This Yurt Maker's Carrot was designed and hand forged for www.campingunderthestars.co.uk, their new venture in crafting traditional yurts needed an equally traditional solution to being able to create a tapering
rectangular hole in the wooden wheel of the yurt to lock in the supporting braces. The result was this tapered rectangular
'carrot' that can be heated up in a camp fire to then burn a uniform taper through the wheel. When the design first
took shape, the specification for the wood size and taper was unknown, so after the first draft the wood was decided and the
process of 'upsetting' the carrot was carried out to make the taper shorter and fatter. We now look forward to seeing
the first yurt being completed!
